Halloween Costume Contest!

Good morning!

How was your weekend? We have had a crazy, busy, but awesome weekend! My dad (Grandpa D-Dawg) came to visit, we met up with my cute friend Madie and went to NASA's Johnson Space Center. General Conference was also going on, and my sister had her baby, so I have a brand spankin' new nephew and he's super cute!

Today I want to propose a contest of sorts! We are pretty intense about our Halloween costumes and have been brainstorming all year. We have a list put together, but don't have a set idea! It's already October 4, and that's late in the game for us!

If you have any winning ideas for this year's Halloween costume, let us know! If we pick your idea, I will personally give you a shout out for your creative genius and mail you a present! You have until Tuesday October 25 to submit ideas.

Here are the guidelines:

-We need to be able to make it modest (covering front sides, backsides, shoulders, and make it at least knee-length)
-Appropriate for a 4 person family, 3 of which are female (cross dressing is okay in certain situations)
-Appropriate for a 2 year old that's a ninja of sorts and an 8-9 month old that crawls with no mercy (who, let's be honest, will probably rip their costumes to shreds)
-No repeats of costumes we have already done! We need "just whatever's hot and fresh" (name that movie).
-Send in as many ideas as you want!

Here are our previous years' costumes for your viewing pleasure:

2008, 2010: "Your mom", complete with denim on denim, fluffy bangs, and mom bum. This has been my only repeat.
2010: Braveheart
2011: "...And I'm Dooneese! Do doo doo doo doo doo doo doo..."
2012: Yzma and Kronk (we made spinach puffs and took them to the party and won 2nd place!)
2013: Professor Quirrell and You-Know-Who, "A Very Potter Musical" style
2014: Gollum, Frodo Baggins, and "The Precious" (This is probably our most memorable costume! We won 3rd place in a costume contest and got a $25 gift card!).
2015: Carnies: The Bearded Lady, The World's Strongest Baby, and Siamese Twins. We won "Creepiest Costume!"

What are some favorite costumes you've done? I'd love to post them on my blog if you send them in to me!

I'm also excited to see what ideas you send in for us! I hope you win so I can send you a present (I really, really will if you win)!

Thanks for reading, may the odds be ever in your favor, and hasta la pasta, ya'll!

  2. Gosh, I'll keep my mind open for sure.
*Ron & Hermione (wearing SPEW badges) with little house-elves, Dobby and Winky (Dobby in several wool hats and mismatched socks, etc. Not sure how to get a 8-9 month old to act inebriated with butterbeer...) I don't know, maybe not...
*We were actually going to be Eric, Ariel, Sebastian, and Flounder cause L said he wanted to be a fish
*Last minute he changed his mind and decided he wanted to be Mushu, so you guys could do that as well...I mean, we're 1000s of miles away. No one but us would know ;) (Li Shang, Mulan, Mushu, and Crikee)
    *Jasmine, Aladdin, Abu, and Raja
    *Teletubbies (please do this one...)
*Anna, Elsa, King & Queen (or Olaf and...Christoff)?
    *Winnie the Pooh Characters
    *Tarzan, Jane, Terk, Tantor
*Pocahantas, John Smith, Meeko, and either the hummingbird or the annoying pompous pug (Percy)
*Prince Charming, Cinderella, and the Ugly Stepsisters (okay, this would be hilarious...)
